Are you an Administrative professional that is seeking a part-time position that will offer a variety of responsibilities and an opportunity to utilize your customer service, Microsoft and social media skill-sets? This position offers a flexible schedule of 24 - 30 hours per week Tuesday through Friday and occasional weekends. We seek an individual that communicates effectively, has the ability to take direction and adjust to a variety of daily tasks. Additionally, this role will require high attention to detail, ability to organize work and collaborate with staff members to ensure effective and efficient Shrine operations.

A Spiritual Center and Architectural Masterpiece located in the heart of Lincoln Park, The National Shrine of Saint Francis Xavier Cabrini, 2520 N. Lakeview Avenue in Chicago, seeks an administrative professional who is detailed, skilled in multi-tasking and passionate about our mission. We have a stunning chapel with large fresco murals, meditation garden, shrine, self-guided and docent-led tours as well as a gift shop. Responsibilities:

  • Answer phone and direct phone calls to appropriate staff members or take message
  • Manage Master Calendar
  • Prepare Board meeting reports, Docent packets and new hire packets
  • Welcome visitors to the Shrine
  • Communicate with volunteers for front desk scheduling and tours
  • Schedule mass requests and perpetual enrollment
  • Assist with resolving issues with office equipment; order office supplies, filing, update vendor contracts and mailing lists
  • Work in the gift shop and handle retail sales, inventory counts and reports
  • Willingness to give tours and become knowledgeable about the Mother Cabrini Shrine and the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart
  • Other appropriate duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree preferred
  • 3+ years administrative experience
  • Demonstrated professional demeanor and tact
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and QuickBooks
  • Retail experience is a plus
  • Good interpersonal skills; flexible, open, enthusiastic team member with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to work weekends and an occasional evening when needed
